Service Description:
The goal of SNAP-Ed is to improve the likelihood that persons eligible for SNAP will make healthy choices within a limited budget and choose active lifestyles consistent with the current Dietary Guidelines for Americans and MyPlate. As of January 2015, SNAP-Ed has begun implementing various direct and indirect nutrition and physical activity education services. Services are provided to those who are receiving or eligible for public assistance. Direct education services include topics like resource management, food safety, food label reading, cooking skills, physical activity options to meet all needs, and food tastings. SNAP-Ed will be implementing community efforts to promote the 5-2-1-Almost None healthy messages that will be adopted and led by select communities in the coming years.
