Mangilao, GUAM – March 14, 2017 4-H seized the day with their Water Density Program. As youth from all schools gathered around 4-H promoted their program and grasped the interest of all ages. This Water Density Project was simple enough for elementary students to be amazed with objects that would float in some waters and sink in others, while also being challenging enough for high school students and parents to formulate hypotheses about why such events occur. A simple project brought amazed responses from all who visited the 4-H booth, all the while bringing more awareness to the program and promoting hands on activities for the youth.
Today’s activity promoted the Life Skill of Learning to Learn, welcomed visitors of the 4-H booth were given the opportunity to learn by application. 4-H mentors participated by informing them about the general information regarding water density, but allowed visitors to envision what will happen and test it out for themselves. 4-H promotes hands on learning activities because not only does the individual get to apply themselves to the task, but it exercises their mind to think and create ideas as they go along.
