Making Good Decisions with Harry S Truman
Santa Rita, GUAM – On May 10th, 4H Mentors visited the 5th Grade classes of Harry S Truman to teach on the importance of our Life Skill Decision Making. The students of Harry S Truman shared with their mentors the decisions they have made with their garden and have discovered what is the best thing for their individual garden. The students were able to learn the importance of Decision Making by playing the game Suspend. The importance of this game is for the students to think critically on their next move. Every move the student makes needs to consider
the next decision. 4H mentors incorporated this activity with making life decisions. In order for us to achieve our goals we must make thorough decisions that cooperate with upcoming choices.
Good decision making allows us to think ahead and set goals for ourselves. As well as providing room for things to not go accordingly. In life things don’t always go as planned, and at 4H we teach the students to always have a contingency plan that will allow them to continue growing and achieving their goals. 4H opened the opportunity for the students to share future goals and what decisions they need to make now and in the long run to achieve the goals. Many students shared their dream to go to college and become lawyers and teachers. Hearing their goals and their plans shows 4H mentors that the youth today will grow to be strong, independent, caring individuals, and it truly shows through their hardworking and partnership with the 4H Program.
